Description

The TCL RC630K sports an Onkyo sound system based around a pair of downward-firing full-range speakers, each of which has 10W of built-in amplification. The sound quality is surprisingly good considering the TV’s dimensions and screen size, with a clean delivery and some nice detail.

It is what you buy if you have champagne tastes on a lemonade budget but be aware that it will really only be ‘sparkling white’. Direct LED – Pass TCL Has announced that its display panel manufacturing company - CSOT - supplies Samsung with VA panels for its 98" QNC990 8K TV. In South Korea, the model is named Samsung KQ98QNC990. It is not available yet in the U.S. and Europe but we suppose that the model will be named Samsung QN98QN990C in the U.S. and in Europe there are several names, depending on the market: Samsung QE98QN990C, Samsung TQ98QN990C, and... Dolby Vision needs at least 1000 nits for a small screen segment. We pushed the screen to the max and got 800 nits in 2% of the screen. It is not bright enough, so you lose quite a lot of definition in shadows and highlights. There is a lot more outgassing in DA Colours are more muted and shadow detail is limited While it does add some brigthness its not DA standard Ditto – this is HDR 10 at best This is more HDR10 standard To test the TCL RC630K we used Portrait Displays Calman colour calibration software. TCL RC630K review: GamingMini-LED/QD/LCD is bright and colourful. QD (Quantum Dot) gives good, saturated colours. It decodes DV. The ones we have seen are about 80-85% of OLED HDR capabilities Overall does a creditable job with sufficient clear voice emphasis (1-4kHz) to make dialogue intelligible. It is not for the hearing impaired. Now to Dolby Atmos

TCL C635 Review: Affordable 4K Ultra HD TV worth checking out!

OLED is the undisputed king of TV/Movies. It decodes Dolby Vision (DV)/IQ and gives close to 100% HDR/10/+/DV (high dynamic range) results. The claim is 178° off-angle viewing; the reality is about 120° before colours start washing out and 145° before it is unviewable. Keep your viewing area tight. This panel is only good in the red area (Left) This happens past about 120° – 30° in this illustration. Reflectivity – Pass(able) HDMI 2.0 eARC 4K@50Hz – not full HDMI 2.1 implementation, e.g., not 120Hz/VRR/ALLM/QMS, so make sure you do not plug other devices into a soundbar It has Standard/Movie/Music/Voice/Game/Sports/Dynamic pre-sets, and a bass enhancer has On/Low/Middle/High pre-sets. Dynamic is probably best for general TV viewing, but they make little difference overall. The overall volume is 82dB – plenty loud enough. You can read more How to tell if you have good music (sound signature is the key – guide) Mounting – PassThe visible threshold for any DeltaE is 3, so the RC630K is certainly in the ballpark, but given there are no real calibration controls it’s impossible to get it any more accurate. Thankfully, the resulting picture is very watchable, with natural-looking colours, and some decent shadow detail. On the left there’s a choice of Freeview Play, streaming channels and the settings menu, plus a search function and the ability to save custom lists. Over on the right you can access any connected devices and live TV, along with all the apps. There’s sufficient processing power to ensure the Roku platform is responsive, but it’s also intuitive to use and easy to navigate.

TCL RC630K (55RC630K) review: Feature-packed, smart and

At less than half the cost of a TCL C835 mini-LED, this TV performs quite well. I mean, a trained eye can see the difference; motion is not as smooth, it is not as bright, and the detail in highlight and dark areas is not as good – but overall, it has decent, above-average performance for the price. All this means is when the TV encounters Dolby Vision and Atmos (DA) metadata, it decodes the 128 channels to the TV’s two channels. You do not get 3D spatial height or surround – just a slightly wider sound stage. If you want the full DA effect, you need a DA soundbar. We will be testing the TCL 8132 3.1.2 DA soundbar separately, but hint; you need a soundbar to enjoy clear and immersive sound from this TV. What you have to remember is that at this price, all Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos (DA) claims are just about being able to decode the metadata and downmix to the panel and speaker capability. They won’t give you some mythical, marvellous DV/DA experience reserved for top-grade LG OLEDs and some mini-LEDs. In fact, ignore the DV/DA claim! Motion smoothing – Technical Fail but PassableFrom July 2022, we have invested in testing equipment that allows us to screen grab instead of photographing the screen. The result is a more accurate representation of the test results. TCL CSOT introduces a 57-inch 1,000R 8K high-end curved gaming display and more at SID DIsplay Week 2023
