A: Yes. Listeners are forewarned that this collection of stories contains language that listeners may find offensive. We recorded the stories as they were written, in an effort to present the literature accurately. The story "The Rats in the Walls" feature multiple instances of the "n-word", and that word is used once in "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" and "The Picture in the House". In the Collaboration Tales collection, "Medusa's Coil" is similarly objectionable. Although at times I felt like the POV jumped about a little too much or was focused on the wrong (ie: not the most compelling) character, in the end Lovecraft always brings the tale to a close that signifies exactly why those story choices were made and in many cases presents that it couldn't have worked in any other way. I was also expecting to come across a few duds (stories that were just not well done), but all the stories were very well written, there was a few that I didn’t like as much as the others, but that is to be expected.

one of the most highly-recommended stories, " the dunwich horror, used dialect, which is generally unforgivable, and certainly so here. There is also an essay written by Lovecraft on Supernatural Horror in Literature, which was excellent, it clearly showed just how knowledgeable and passionate he was about supernatural literature, reading almost like a who’s who of supernatural Horror leading up to and including his time, which gave me a few more names to add to my ‘to read’ pile. Trash. Apparently written in exactly the style of Samuel Johnson. Big fat who cares? Grats, I guess? Too bad he didn't write it in exactly the style of a good story. All the legitimate criticisms notwithstanding, for me personally I give this five star-spawns of Cthulhu out of five.

Where Do I Start?

The only thing I have noticed is that under the Juvenilia section of the Wikipedia bibliography is that it lists The Haunted House, John, the Detective, The Noble Eavesdropper, and The Picture. These are not in the volume under main fiction or the Juvenilia appendix - but on Wikipedia is says these are unpublished anyway. The spell cast by H.P. Lovecraft's stories of psychological collapse in the face of cosmic malice can be felt throughout modern fiction, movies, graphic novels, video games, art, and music. For contemporary artists such as Clive Barker, Joyce Carol Oates, Michael Chabon, and Guillermo del Toro, Lovecraft is simply the king of “weird” storytelling.

LOVECRAFT TALES collects in a single grand volume virtually all of the master's work, over sixty short stories, novellas, and novels, including the classics “At the Mountains of Madness,”“The Dunwich Horror,”“The Call of Cthulhu,” The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, and The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. The HPL Omnibus Collection - all stories principally attributed to Lovecraft, plus his collaborations with other authors for more than 100 stories in all. Shipped on our custom USB drive in a great new faux book Dagon was one of his earliest writings, and it's a good introduction to the philosophy behind the Cthulhu mythos. Since I've become so familiar with his work, I have a deeper understanding and appreciation of it. Dagon is more important as a supplement than as a stand-alone. I wouldn't have enjoyed the other Cthulhu stories as much without it. It gives you a taste of what's to come, like deep time and space, the dream world, fish gods, and unimaginable horror.Much like Stephen King, HP Lovecraft set most of his stories in New England, where he lived all of his life. His knowledge of its towns, history, and geography comes through strongly and confidently. What I really liked about this story were the friendships and relationships in it; two friends growing up together and one going off and getting married. Then there's the confusion of the souls switching bodies. Relationships were not a big part of Lovecraft's writing, probably because he was such a recluse. And this story was one of the few to have a strong female character. I think he rarely talked to women in real life. Now that I think about it, Stephen King may have gotten his idea for Christine from this story. In Christine, the protagonist's body is invaded by the soul of his car's previous owner. I have just compared (Dec 27, 2013) the 'fiction' section of the Wikipedia bibliography with all of the stories featured in this volume. All of the fiction is included in this volume.

It's taken us three years to record, edit, mix and master this collection. We hope it will provide Lovecraft fans with a high quality means to enjoy to these stories read aloud by professional actors who share their love for HPL's writing. The Strange High House in the Mist: Intriguing, surprisingly more joyous than menacing, with beautiful poetic descriptions and phrases. The Call of Cthulhu - come on! You're gonna read Lovecraft and not read about the Great Old One?! That would be unheard of!! The Doom That Came to Sarnath: I was reminded of Robert E. Howard in this primordial tale of lost lands. Of course, Howard was influenced by Lovecraft.

The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society produced the first complete audio recording of all of Lovecraft's stories. These are NOT dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, these are audiobooks of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. Working from texts prepared by Lovecraft scholar S.T. Joshi, we offer all of HPL's works from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. We also offer all available collaboration stories which he wrote with other writers. All of the recordings include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies.

Although these two do not at first appear to be directly related, later in each it becomes clear that there's a direct correlation between them that completely reframes some of the details from ATMOM and I absolutely love it!If you are already an established fan of Lovecraft, this volume is wonderful, because of just how much of his work is compiled within. The Beast in the Cave: This was written by Lovecraft at age 13-14, and for that is impressive. It only starts to touch the horror of being trapped underground that, say, the film The Descent shows fully, muted by the narrator's early resignation to his fate. Its youthful exuberance is captured in the final words, "... a MAN!!!", bold, caps, and triple-exclamation all original. Dagon: An early hint at the later mythos tales that would capture the public's interest. Obviously the name points to later work. It contains story elements that would later be seen expanded in the iconic The Call of Cthulhu. Although Lovecraft's readership was limited during his life, his reputation has grown over the decades. He is now commonly regarded as one of the most influential horror writers of the 20th Century, exerting widespread and indirect influence, and frequently compared to Edgar Allan Poe.
