This is the first 50p in a four-coin series. The Hogwarts Express 50p and Harry Potter 50p are available now featuring the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. two hundred pounds (2oz), twenty-five pounds (quarter-ounce), and fifty pence denominations for the gold coins Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is where the students attend and where much of the Harry Potter adventures happen. Often shortened to just “Hogwarts”, the British wizarding school is located in the Scottish Highlands and accepts magical students from Great Britain and Ireland for enrolment. J. K. Rowling revealed that Hogwarts is a state school, and the Ministry of Magic shoulders all of the school’s financial needs. Harry Potter Coins from the Royal Mint The series are a collection of 50p coins (BU and colourised variants) and various silver and gold weights. The release schedule is that Harry Potter is released October 2022, Hogwarts Express 2022, Dumbledore 2023, and Hogwarts 2023. The 2022 coins feature Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, and the 2023 will have King Charles III.But Dumbledore is not the only figure to feature for the first time. Unlike the two previous 50p coins in the series, King Charles III’s portrait also appears on the coin! Founded in the reign of Alfred the Great, around the year 886, The Royal Mint was originally one of several mints which were centralised to London in 1279. For more than 800 years the Mint was based at the Tower of Londonbefore moving to Royal Mint Court where it remained until the 1960s.
