Personally, I like the bow tie because it’s so sweet and a little bit different from what I usually wear. Start working the safety pin through the scrunchie by pushing it further into the tube, then pulling the fabric over it.

You can easily make an assortment of these at home for very little. From stripes and polka dots to solids and more, there are lots of options to make. Learn How to Make a Scrunchie with a Bow the Easy Way Using this FREE Sewing Pattern and Step-By-Step Tutorial.

Step 1: Cut a rectangle of fabric that measures 22″ long by 3″ wide. Fold the fabric piece in half lengthwise with the right sides together. Pin in place. If you love scrunchies, I bet you're also gonna love my scrunchie barrette tutorial! It has the gathered fabric of a scrunchie, but on a barrette base instead of a stretchy ponytail holder. Supplies Step 3: Clip the corners. Turn the scarf right side out through the remaining gap. Press if desired. Step 1:Iron your fabric and cut out a rectangle 40 cm x 7 cm. Lay it in front of you with the wrong side (WS) facing up. Fold one of the short edges over by 2cm and press flat, then turn over the fabric so theright side (RS) is now facing up.

Step 2: Place the pattern pieces together with the right sides facing then pin around the outside. I like to give the fabric a little press with the iron at this point. Seasonal fabric makes a great bow scrunchie and so fun! Think Christmas, Halloween, Easter and more. Now that the elastic is inside the tube, it’s time to sew the remaining opening closed. For a truly seamless finish, you can sew this opening by hand. Using a blind stitch, or an invisible ladder stitch, stitch the remaining opening closed. Then, once you’ve made the bow piece, tie it onto the scrunchie. I highly recommend securing the bow with a few hand stitches or a dab of fabric glue. Pin along the long edge to hold it in place for sewing. Sew together with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
