Description

The ALFA ROMEO GIULIA is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission with 2 or 4-wheel drive, combined with a selection of seven petrol or diesel engines. It is available in 5 different finishes: The WLTP (Worldwide harmonised Light vehicles Test Procedure) has been the basis of which new vehicles have been approved since 1st September 2018, replacing the European Driving Cycle (NEDC), which was the test procedure previously used. The Stelvio comes in a choice of two trim levels – Sprint and Veloce. There’s plenty of equipment included from the offset too, such as 19-inch alloy wheels, the twin screens and leather upholstery. The plug-in hybrid Tonale Q4 is the most powerful variant in the range, producing 271bhp all-in and offering all-wheel drive. The 1.3-litre petrol engine under the bonnet sends its power to the front wheels, while the single electric motor fed by a 15.5kWh battery drives the rears. Alongside Alfa Romeo’s quest for performance, Monchaux added that reliability has also been a focus for the squad ahead of the new campaign, having seen points go begging on several occasions in 2022 due to component failures.

The used ALFA ROMEO GIULIA is an elegant saloon car that pays tribute to the brand's sporting spirit and Italian style. With its aerodynamic design, harmonious volumes, wide choice of petrol or diesel engines and the latest equipment and technology, it ensures an incomparable driving experience and adapts to your needs. The refined interior focuses on the driving experience, with all the controls within easy reach and the presence of delicate materials such as carbon fibre and wood.On Tuesday, Alfa Romeo presented their new challenger and new livery for the upcoming F1 season, as the Sauber-run operation look to build on a P6 finish in last year’s constructors’ standings. The livery was designed by Alfa Romeo in Turin as the team's partnership with the Italian car manufacturer enters its final year this season. From 2026, the Sauber team will be majority owned and run by Audi.

The Alfa Romeo Tonale’s starting price seems expensive, even compared with premium rivals such as the Audi Q3, the BMW X1 and the Volvo XC40. Granted, every version of the Tonale comes well-equipped and aligns itself with higher trim levels of those rivals, but when you’re paying the same as an X1 M Sport, it’s hard to ignore the price tag. The plug-in hybrid ( PHEV) version is even more pricey, commanding a 15-20% premium over the mild hybridand is limited to the top two trim levels. We decided to change the rear suspension, so also the gearbox casing and that then opens the door to new cooling layouts, which themselves once in place, allowed us to develop the bodywork in ways that last year was not possible," technical director Jan Monchaux said. GIULIA SPRINT: A tribute to the brand's sporting DNA, it is equipped with active cruise control and a leather sports steering wheel. It is available with petrol or diesel engines of 190 or 200 hp. The Stelvio is an SUV that goes about its business differently to most rivals, putting a focus on the driving experience and styling above all else. In these two areas, it’s only the Porsche Macan that can come close. GIULIA VELOCE: sporty, with large wheels, heated leather sports seats and aluminium sports pedals. It has the most powerful engines in the range: a 280 hp petrol engine with or without four-wheel drive or a 210 hp diesel engine with four-wheel drive.

Last year – during the season – it was not possible, and the concept we had followed last year, we were of the opinion that [it] had come to a sort of plateau, and to unleash the next level of performance, we had to do all those changes that have been quite a journey for us, because it’s a big, big, complex part we had to re-do. Then, evidently, all the rear-end work we see with the floor, alongside the new regs… so we’ve really been putting a lot of effort on the second part of the car, while the front will be successively developed during the season. Alternatively, you can go for the front-wheel drive, mild-hybrid version of the Tonale. It uses a new four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and 20bhp electric motor. This combination produces 158bhp in total and allows the car to run on electric power when you start it up, at low speeds and when parking. Upgrade to the Veloce and this brings the styling upgrades we’ve already mentioned, as well as a limited-slip differential to enhance the driving experience. Electric front seats are added, along with a power tailgate. Historically, we were always very strong with reliability, but last year somehow we lost a little bit what used to be one of our biggest strengths, so it was clearly one of the focuses, or one of the areas of major focus for us last winter.”The concept we followed last year, we felt had come to a plateau and to unleash the next level of performance we had to do all these changes. The Alfa Romeo C43 will be driven by Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas. Sauber It has been quite a journey for us because it was a big, complex part we had to re-do and then evidently how all the rear end works with the floor alongside the new regs. So we have really been putting a lot of effort on the rear end of the car while the front will be successively developed during the season." According to Alfa Romeo, the Tonale Q4 can cover up to 42 miles on electric power alone, or 50 miles if you’re just driving around town. The plug-in Tonale can also return up to 217mpg while emitting 29-32g/km of CO2, which is how it attracts the same eight per cent Benefit-in-Kind tax rate as the latest BMW X1 PHEV, and well below the 14 per cent BiK rate for the equivalent XC40. The experts at Euro NCAP gave the Tonale the full five stars for safety – the same as all the rivals. It comes with adaptive cruise control that can read road signs and alter your speed accordingly, and lane-keep assist with lane centring that’s said to work even at low speeds in traffic. Speaking at Alfa Romeo’s car launch, Monchaux commented: “We identified areas where we thought there was still potential for us to unleash, potential we wouldn’t be able to unleash in the 2022 season.

The WLTP is used to measure fuel consumption, electric range and CO2 figures. Figures shown are for comparison purposes and should only be compared to the fuel consumption, electric range and CO2 values of other cars tested to the same technical standard, as the test conditions are more realistic, fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions measured according to the WLTP procedure are, in many cases, higher than those measured according to the NEDC procedure.

Verdict

Former McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl has been appointed as managing director to lead the team into its new era while Alessandro Alunni Bravi has been appointed team representative. Offering up more details, he continued: “In effect, we decided to change the rear axis, redoing the rear suspension, and therefore the gearbox casing, which then opens the door to new layouts, especially on the [cooling] side, which once in place allowed us to develop the bodywork. Alfa Romeo reserves the right to change, amend or withdraw this offer at any point in time. Correct at time of publication. Alfa Romeo’s 2023 Formula 1 car, the C43, features several key modifications at the rear compared to its predecessor, the team’s Technical Director, Jan Monchaux, has explained. GIULIA SPECIALE: elegant, it is equipped with a leather steering wheel and a 25W Bi-Xenon light signature. It is available with petrol or diesel engines of 160, 190 or 200 hp.
