Create a delightful and whimsical Bison Amigurumi with our crochet pattern, perfect for beginners to intermediate crafters! I personally looove my Edify hat (but ~fair~ warning: your significant other may try to make it their own...speaking from experience). Not only is it ethically-made, but it's so comfortable I forget I'm even wearing it. It's also super easy to just roll up and keep it in my purse since it's soft and flexible. I try to pair it with other similarly-colored clothing and accessories, like a tan Theory coat and these Steve Madden booties with pearl details! I used the edge of my machine sewing foot to eyeball the distance between the seam lines, but I never demand perfection from myself. 5 or 6 rows will give enough stability to the brim - even if sewn with quilting cotton, like all these in the tutorial. You can mark them using a fabric pen, spaced ½" or ⅜" apart. Now, let's make one color first: the Outer. Take the 'Sides' circular band and the round Crown piece.

Promising review: "You will definitely catch fish while you’re wearing this hat. 10/10. Dad skills increase by 45%." — Amy This hat is worked in spiral rounds. When you begin a new round, use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the round. When you get to the end of the round, don’t turn your work or make a turning chain. Instead, make the first stitch of the next round in the first stitch of the previous round. But you can get away with way less fabric if you rearrange and turn pattern pieces for the most economical use of the fabric, with the least leftover possible. For this project, you will need some basic crochet supplies, including a crochet hook, yarn, scissors, and a tape measure or ruler. While the Side and Brim pieces are still folded in half, cut small notches at the top and bottom of the fold. Yarn: Worsted weight cotton yarn (Category 4). I used almost all of a 4 oz ball of Lily Sugar’n Cream yarn. Hi all, I just made this adorable little hat because Damjana makes it look so easy! For the topstitching I didn't worry about any "measuring" I just eyeballed it for good placement then lined up an edge with a good mark on my machine to keep it uniform all the way around (this was for that initial topstitch on the brim where you catch the seams from the "side" pieces.)

Thanks for this pattern! I am using the sugar and cream cotton yarn which I find to be pretty stiff and am currently working on the middle section. My project has really not taken much shape and looks more like a large circle. Is this normal or is there a chance I missed something? This hat is size to fit Adult Medium hat size, for a head measuring21–22 inches in circumference. Gauge After you've decided on the hat size, use the paper pattern (see note above) to cut out these pieces from fabric: Pattern piece name that's a great question, but considering the oval top piece (it's not a circle), you'd need to modify the brim and the sides pattern piece.

Promising review: "Best hat EVER. Well made. Adjustment is velcro on ribbon looped through the entire interior band. So when you tighten to feel secure in its fit, you can distribute the extra width around throughout the band. In other words, it looks smooth on the outside. I liked the contrast fabric to keep the look from being too solid. The side bow is cute, not old Aunt Mable’s jumbo flower." — Tutor Gurl Press the brim so you get an even outer edge. Sew the opening closed or proceed with the next, finishing step. Step 11 - Finishing touches: Topstitching the Brim

After Round 28, the middle portion of the hat should measure 3.5 inches. Ideally, you want the middle section of the hat to stop at the top of your ear. If your hat brim is too floppy, consider using a smaller size crochet hook for the brim section. Using a smaller hook will create a denser, sturdier fabric that’s less likely to ruffle. For example, if you made the body of the hat with a 4.0 mm hook, you could try using a 3.5 mm hook for the brim. Other fiber blends could work for this pattern, too. You could try a cotton-bamboo or a cotton-linen blend for a softer, floppier hat. And, I’d love to experiment with raffia yarn for making crochet hats, as well. (I don’t recommend using acrylic yarn for a sun hat.)
