Description

Bergamot essential oil is a good choice for aromatherapy, although there are many studies using lavender oil. Lavender oil was not chosen due to some subject’s report of allergy to lavender oil. Bergamot essential oil is more moderate for users and is a lower price. In the future, aroma within air-conditioning will be beneficial to create a better working environment. A 2019 review cites several studies that suggest bergamot can help reduce lipids in the body and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. Grooming and time spent in center of arena in the open-field test in male Wistar rats after systemic (i.p.) administration of saline + jojoba oil (CTR), Tween80 in saline + BEO (BEO), and FLZ (3 mg/kg) + BEO (FLZ + BEO). Data are expressed as mean ± SEM of seconds ( n = 5 per group). , vs. CTR group (one-way ANOVA, followed by Tukey’s multiple comparisons test). (a) Grooming. (b) Center. Therefore, significant HRV variation was expected after aromatherapy. Sympathetic activity is accompanied with increases in low frequency power (LF) of the heart rate variability (HRV) spectrum, while parasympathetic activity is associated with high frequency power (HF). Duan et al.’s results indicated that after the inhalation of lavender, there was a significant increase in HF and LF/HF values [ 13]. Anxiety caused by edited films was reduced with the aid of lavender aromatherapy, and there was an increase in HRV [ 14]. Therefore HRV was used as an indicator to measure the effect of aromatherapy on elementary school teachers. 2. Material and Methods 2.1. Subjects

While bergamot is generally thought to be safe to use,it’s best to speak to your doctor if you have any health concerns. 10 The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine: “Effectiveness of aromatherapy massage and inhalation on symptoms of depression in Chinese community-dwelling older adults.” According to several studies, the excretion of BP occurs shortly after its oral administration. The appearance of BP metabolites in the urine of human volunteers was reported to appear within 2 h after administration, while detection in serum was observed after 2.5 h, indicating that this compound undergoes rapid biotransformation within the intestinal wall and liver [ 23]. Rozza et al. [ 75] have reported on the gastroprotective mechanisms of Citrus lemon essential oil and its major compounds limonene and β-pinene and their activity in vitro against H. pylori ATCC 43504: results showed a gastroprotective effect of Citrus lemon and limonene with MIC values of 125 and 75 μg/mL, respectively. The role of β-myrcene, a minor constituent of essential oil from Citrus aurantium, in preventing peptic ulcer disease has been evaluated: results showed β-mircene was an effective inhibitor of gastric and duodenal ulcers through an increase in the levels of gastric mucosa defence factors [ 76]. Hesperetin-7- O-glucoside, produced by fungal enzymatic conversion of Citrus hesperidin, was active in vitro against H. pylori, also inhibiting human intestinal maltase and HMG-CoA reductase [ 77]. Other biologically active derivatives from Citrus fruits, such as 4′-geranyloxyferulic acid and boropinic acid, as well as sudachitin and 3′-demethoxysudachitin, were found active against H. pylori in vitro [ 78, 79]. Bergamot oil is one of the most commonly used ingredients in perfumery. [17] It is prized for its ability to combine with an array of scents to form a bouquet of aromas that complement each other. [18] Bergamot is a major component of the original Eau de Cologne composed by Jean-Marie Farina at the beginning of the 18th century in Germany. The first use of bergamot oil as a fragrance ingredient was recorded in 1714, and can be found in the Farina Archive in Cologne. An interesting work evaluated the effects of bergamot extract (10 and 20 mg/kg daily) in rats fed a hypercholesterolemic diet for 30 days [ 60]. The results evidenced a significant reduction in total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and triglycerides and a moderate increase of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), without effects on bodyweight and 24 h food consumption.

The studies found that taking a daily supplement of bergamot-derived polyphenol fraction (BPF) reduced total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and triglyceride levels and increased high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good,” cholesterol. Dugo G, Di Giacomo A (2002). Citrus: the genus citrus. London: Taylor & Francis. ISBN 978-0-415-28491-2. OCLC 49784202. An essence extracted from the aromatic skin of this sour fruit is used to flavour Earl Grey and Lady Grey teas, [10] as well as confectionery (including Turkish delight). [16] Bergamot is one of the most common "casings" (flavourings) added to Swedish snus, a form of smokeless tobacco product. One of the characteristics that have attracted researchers is the phototoxicity of several furanocoumarins including BP when used in combination with UVA radiation. This data confirmed the combination between BJ and the three reference antibiotics AMX, CLA, and MTZ had a synergistic effect against ATCC and clinical isolates of H. pylori. BJ was effective against H. pylori strains, both alone or in combination with antibiotics, and could therefore be used as novel strategy for the treatment of antibiotic resistance. Although the exact mechanism of action is not known, we believe that the synergistic effect may be due to the initial damage of the microbial lipid membrane by the plant compound, which would increase the permeability of the bacteria to the antibiotic.

C. bergamia is sometimes confused with C. medica (the citron, the yellow fruit of which is also known as etrog), and with C. limetta, the "sweet lemon" or "sweet lime". The authors declare that there are no conflict of interests regarding the publication of this paper. Authors’ Contributions BPF is a powder with high concentrations of polyphenols and is made from the juice and pith of bergamot. The bergamot orange is unrelated to the herbs known as bergamot, wild bergamot, bergamot mint, or bergamint – Monarda didyma, M. fistulosa, and Eau de Cologne mint ( Mentha, disputed species). Those are all in the mint family, and are named for their similar aroma.

Osteoporosis, also called “fragile bone disease,” is characterized by a decrease in bone density, generated by a demineralization process, by the loss of calcium and phosphorus in the bone [ 53, 54]. According to Tanew et al. [ 15], the bioavailability of BP is lower than that of its 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP) isomer. However, the side effects of BP are much less compared to 8-MOP, allowing the administration of higher concentrations. The authors reported that doubling the administration dose from 0.6 to 1.2 mg/kg of BP resulted in an increase of its concentrations in the serum of the volunteers from 81 to 164 ng/mL, suggesting that its bioavailability follows a linear behavior. Although the bioavailability of BP is less than that of its isomer, a study in Sprague-Dawley rats in a 12-hour fasting state revealed that the absolute oral bioavailability of BP for low, medium, and high concentrations (5, 10, and 15 mg/kg, respectively) ranged from 70 to 94%, indicating that it has good absorption. As well as being used to make delicious tea and flavour a wide range of food, the bergamot fruit has a number of reported benefits and uses. Zoe Diana Draelos (14 October 2015). After the initial hour, the amber and musk notes emerge more and balance the fragrance. It still has that bright, citrusy behavior, but I get more intense undertones of floral notes and musky herb-based spice. At times, it can feel quite powdery and slightly soapy. The amber is akin to ambergris, more salty that sweet.
