Things come to a boil in the finale, a strange concoction that only Walker and McGillivray could pull off. The pair make a suicide pact so that they can be together for ever, but after Brabazon fatally stabs herself, Meldrum hesitates.

org/wiki/Pete_Walker_(director) , he had made films that fell under various categories in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, frequently using the same cast of characters. Jenny, understandably hurt by this behaviour, decides to go to confessional (oh-oh), where she wastes no time in telling all to a Father Meldrum: "He doesn't care about my feelings, he's got other girls…" But she soon gets scared by the priest's overbearing attitude ("There's no need to be embarrassed discussing sexual matters with me…") and runs away, straight into the arms of Bob, a man with a bad jacket and an Italian sports car. He's less than overjoyed, however, to find out about the blackmail: "Bugger the church authorities, I'm gonna sort 'im art meself! It does drag a teensy bit toward the end and a couple of plot points seem a bit stretched but the final 10 minutes are actually quite unpredictable and wrap things up quite nicely. House of Mortal Sin is similar to House of Whipcord, as Walker turns his sights on a priest who takes it upon himself to cleanse people of their sins.House Of Mortal Sin marked the end of Pete Walker's trilogy of well-regarded "suburban horrors", made up of House Of Whipcord and Frightmare. The story concerns a concerned young girl who goes to revelation at the local church; alas, the sexually-angry priest she acknowledges to becomes fascinated with her. Meldrum uses his status and crazed persistence to work his way into Jenny's life by any means necessary.

She goes to the presbytery and encounters Mrs Meldrum, who knows that her son is mad and begs Vanessa to help. Great performances from all involved with 2 lovely leading ladies in Susan Penhaligon and Stephanie Beacham.Walker fails to bring any sensibility, other than the merely exploitative, to the grotesque material, this must be considered pretty irredeemable stuff, even for a horror film.

The next morning, Jenny makes her way to Father Meldrum's presbytery, where he lives with with his frail Mother and Miss Brabazon the housekeeper. Then our star "Jenny" (Susan Penhaligon) meets up with her old school buddy (Norman Eshley) who is now a priest. During the meeting, Jenny is shocked to discover that Meldrum taped her confession to blackmail her. Please note there is paper lift at the top and a 1 1/2 inch closed tear which we have repaired with restoration tape.well-executed and maintains a dark interest throughout, supported by interesting performances (especially Sheila Keith as Meldrum's devoted love). And I haven't even mentioned we get another memorable turn from Walker regular Sheila Keith as Sharp's foreboding, eyepatch-wearing housekeeper Miss Brabazon.
